Bruno Catalano est un sculpteur français né au Maroc en 1960 les origines de sa famille étant sicilienne. Sa notoriété est liée à sa création de sculptures de personnages ayant délibérément de substantielles parties manquantes. Marin dans une ancienne vie, il considère cette expérience comme le centre de son inspiration. Se sentant artiste, il commence par de grandes sculptures en bronze. En 2004, une faille involontaire dans l’un de ses personnages lui donne l’idée de creuser et d’évider la poitrine…Pour de superbes sculptures à taille humaine, qui sont désormais son signe distinctif.

Bruno Catalano is a French sculptor born in Morocco in 1960 the origins of his family being Sicilian. His notoriety is linked to his creation of sculptures of characters deliberately having substantial missing parts. As a sailor in a former life, he considers this experience as the center of his inspiration. Feeling himself to be an artist, he starts with large bronze sculptures. In 2004, an involuntary crack in one of his characters gives him the idea to dig and hollow out the chest… For superb sculptures on a human scale, which are now his trademark.
